How to Wow Your Wedding Guests and Throw the Most Epic Intimate Wedding Ever
When you're looking to throw an intimate, meaningful wedding celebration that's as non-traditional as you are, there are a few things to consider - keeping your guests interested, finding a venue that works for you and throwing the party of a lifetime.
Posey Lane has some suggestions for leaving your guests reeling long after the weekend is over. Try these ideas on for size...
1. Think outside of the box when choosing a venue
There are some seriously gorgeous and unique Calgary, Canmore and Banff wedding venues. Since you’ll be planning not only your wedding, but the party of the century, you need to find a location that will wow the pants right off your guests. I’m a big fan of outdoor mountain ceremonies in Canmore or Kananaskis, garden weddings in the city and cozy family celebrations in restaurants like Bonterra or River Cafe.
2. Plan a wedding weekend.
Since you're keeping it small and simple, why focus on just one day when you could turn the whole thing into a wedding weekend? Fill your itinerary with a bunch of engaging, interactive activities and it’ll feel like you’re on vacation with just a handful of your favourite people in the world. Book a wine tasting, a city tour, a brunch, a trip to the zoo and a paint class – and there you have it! The best darn wedding weekend ever.
3. Host an after-party.
You’re probably seeing the theme here by now, hey? It’s P-A-R-T-Y. Well isn’t that what your guests want? Calgary has some of the coolest venues for keeping the celebration going long after grandma has gone home. Check out private lounges like The Bourbon Room or take it down a notch, slip on a leather jacket over your wedding dress and head to Ducky’s for some crazy karaoke. Have your wedding officiant surprise your guests with announcing a late-night, last-run shuttle to your favourite hotspot and BAM! You just won the wedding of the decade award.
